Lyrics
Come on and hike them trails of Hanging Rock
From the north to the south where the hawks all flock
Mile by mile through the rhododendron shade
Where the deer slip by and the black bears wade
From easy strolls to rocky climbs
The hills are singin’ with Carolina pines
So lace up your boots don't sit and balk
Let's roam them trails of Hanging Rock
On the north side trail that’s Cook’s Wall bound
It's 4.3 miles and it winds around
A moderate trek with a view so wide
You’ll see Pilot Mountain and the bluebird glide
Look out for lizards on the sunny stone
And hear that woodpecker tappin’ alone
The Wolf Rock Trail is a short 1.5
A moderate loop where the wildflowers thrive
On the south side near the Visitor’s Place
You'll find Mountain Laurels and the squirrel’s race
See the salamanders in the damp rock shade
And a family of turkeys in a forest parade
Now if you like steep take the Moore’s Wall climb
4.7 miles and it's tough but fine
A difficult trail up the granite face
Where the buzzards circle and the clouds embrace
Catch your breath where the wild winds whip
By the tower top on your mountain trip
Oh hike them trails of Hanging Rock
From the lake loop path to the cedar block
Easy or hard there's a trail for all
With a river below and a waterfall’s call
You’ll see a fox maybe hear a frog
Or a raccoon rustlin’ through the mossy log
So pack a lunch and don’t you stop
Let’s hit them trails of Hanging Rock
There’s Hidden Falls and Window View
With easy walks and a peaceful hue
Lower Cascades it's a short downhill
Where the ferns grow thick and the air is still
